Experimental correlation of rheological relaxation and interface healing times in welding thermoplastic PEKK composites

چکیده
The evolution of polymer welding time to join the interface thermoplastic Polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) matrix composites was characterized. Using a creep-recovery test protocol analyse rheological behavior, it shown that for temperatures above melting point (T>360°C), visco-elastic relaxation increases exponentially with time–indicating crosslinking or branching. To confirm is proportional healing time, results were compared fracture energy release rate (G1c) samples prepared on custom bench which capable isothermally weld composite controlled intervals. corresponds directly time. Furthermore, thermal history experienced in cross linking and influences implication temperature exposure from prior processing steps (IR oven pre-heating autoclave consolidation) can limit ability components predictable way.

Microwave facilities for welding thermoplastic composites and preliminary results.
The wide range of applications of microwave technology in manufacturing industries has been well documented (NRC, 1994; Thuery, 1992). In this paper, a new way of joining fibre reinforced thermoplastic composites with or without primers is presented. The microwave facility used is also discussed. The effect of power input and cycle time on the heat affected zone (HAZ) is detailed together with ...

متن کاملRheological and Mechanical Properties of Ultra-fine Cellulose-Filled Thermoplastic Epoxy Composites
Thermoplastic epoxy resin (TPER)-based composites containing different amounts of ultra-fine cellulose (UFC) were prepared via melt compounding and injection molding. The effect of UFC loading on the mechanical properties and dynamic rheological behavior of the UFC-filled TPER composites was analyzed. The UFC-filled composites displayed higher complex viscosities than those of the neat TPER com...

Wood and other biomass resources have been blended with thermoplastic such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polylactic acid and polyvinyl chloride to form wood plastic composites (WPC). WPCs have seen a large growth in the United States in recent years mainly in the residential decking market with the removal of CCA treated wood decking from residential markets. While there are many successes to...
